2nd Unthinkable Mastermind Event

That WEF’s Young Global Leader, doctor, pianist, ex handcycling Swiss national trainer, and philanthropist Christian Wenk could be there on the second of the Unthinkable Mastermind Events, on Friday, July 5th, was not thinkable at all. The paraplegic 45 years old recently came out of the hospital, after yet another surgery. Since the accident in 2000, that made him fight for his life paralyzed most of his body and obliged him to give up his dream of ever becoming a duathlon World Championship. But that’s the common thing with masterminds, as Wenk himself might put it; they know that the glass is always almost a 100% full. It’s not what’s commonly believed a question of half full or half empty. Where there is a problem, there is a solution. The message of the entire evening, exactly. An event during which the audience listened to impressive minds who decided to handle the challenges that life throws at you by doing the unthinkable, most pragmatically, and successfully.

The intense program (five presentations, from 6 until 10 p.m.) varied in style and were entertaining. From Wenk’s highly inspirational pieces of advice to Pascal Kienast’s entrepreneurial and athletic stories, from coach Susanne Baumann’s practical exercises to engineer and winemaker Jonas David Ettlin’s curricular rollercoasters, the evening gave the participants an opportunity to be encouraged and stimulated by the personal stories of the speakers. All by being pleasantly reminded that the glass is mostly full – Namely, by Ettlin’s awarded local wine which was offered throughout the event to accompany the small and nicely prepared buffet. (GVN)
